POLITICO: Trump’s war on science — and the truth — continues with the “war on” article POLITICO article “There is a war on climate change,” Trump said in a statement to reporters Wednesday.

“Climate change is real and dangerous.

Our children and grandchildren are in danger.

It is a crisis of epic proportions.”

Trump has promised to roll back some Obama administration regulations, including an emissions cap-and-trade program, and has proposed a plan to cut emissions from the power sector by a third by 2030.

“We need to put in place rules that are not burdensome on the American worker and on our economy,” Trump added.

“And this includes the Clean Power Plan, which would put a cap on carbon emissions from power plants, and the Clean Water Rule, which will reduce the amount of pollutants entering our waterways.”

He said the new regulations will “make our economy more competitive.”

The president has called the EPA “an agency that has become so out of control, it is hard to even call it an agency,” and said he wants to see “strong and effective regulation” to help the economy.

“The EPA is now in a position where it is more important than ever to take action to protect the American people,” Trump continued.

“But we must put inplace strong and effective regulations that are clearly written and have strong enforcement.”

Trump is slated to meet with business leaders in the coming days.
