CONNERHILL, N.H. (AP) Former “Daily Show” host Conan O’Brien says he’s considering a 2016 presidential run.

O’Brien is the author of “A Perfect Circle: The Story of the Perfect World,” and co-hosts “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert and “Conan.”

In the book, he says he grew up watching the late-night comedy shows.

He said on the podcast Thursday that the book “was really interesting, and the book is very important to me.

I really want to take that in, but I also know that the only way to do that is to get behind a candidate and support their candidacy.”

He said that while he thinks he’s more interested in the presidency than ever, he’s still “in the midst of the race for president.”

O’BRIEN: If there was a time that I felt it was important to do a presidential run, I would probably run for President.

But I have a lot of other things to do.

He added that if he were to run for office, he’d run for “something I think is more important than being the head of a company or being in politics, and that’s helping people and helping the world.”

A spokesman for O’Briens book said he will not run for the U.S. Senate in 2018.

But O’Reilly, who has been out of politics since leaving the “Daily News” in October, has endorsed several Republican presidential candidates.
