MUBIO — A Missouri man who was in the process of killing a wild peafowler that had killed two children has been charged with felony cruelty to animals.

State police say 29-year-old Michael C. Dennison of Connerhill, Mo., was arrested Monday on charges of cruelty to an animal, a second-degree felony.

State records say the children, ages 3 and 7, were killed Sept. 1 after Dennisons son tried to kill them.

The state medical examiner ruled the deaths accidental.

Dennison told police he found the dead children with their throats cut, their heads in a bucket of water, and they had blood on their hands.

He also told police that his wife had found their bodies and had found a knife and a sock on their bodies, according to a police report.
